We All Have Scars

This experience has taught me that we ALL have scars. Some are obvious to the eye, and some are hidden, buried, and suppressed within. Life is truly a classroom, we are all being tested and tried. We truly cannot predict what trials we may face, but we can decide INSIDE how we will choose to take it, and what we will decide to do with it. I pray everyday that I am taking this experience and making it a thing of worth and beauty. I am choosing this day to find the VALUE in my scar, and in what this has taught me, my friends and family. Everyday I am humbled by the emails, texts, and phone calls I receive telling me how my adversity has influenced their life for the better. It truly makes me feel so blessed to be a positive part of so many peoples lives. GRATITUDE FILLS MY SOUL...

Whether your scars are visible or not count them as a blessing! They are proof that you survived!

  3. Jamie,

You look beautiful. Like i said before, once your hair comes in you will not be able to notice. You are such an inspiration to us. Your attitude through this is something to be admired by myself and others. Thanks for all that you do.

  6. Thank you Jaime for sharing. My 17 yrs old son (at the time) underwent a similar surgery that was life threatening a year ago at his homecoming game. Your scar is beautiful because it now represents your strength, and desire to make a difference in others lives. My son has the same scar on the same side as you and when your hair grows back you won't see it.

    You are a blessing!

  8. Hello Jamie,

If you think this is something you might like to do, you would receive a full read-back of your story and I can also pay you a nice fee. The story would be told exactly how you wanted and would raise awareness about brain injuries.

  12. Jamie, you and I share a similar story. I too had a severe fall that led to the discovery of a large tumor in my brain. On January 8, 2008 I took a fall on the ice outside our garage. My feet shot out from under me and my head slammed back against the concrete. I suspected I had a concussion so I was taken to the ER by a friend. (fortunately I did not pass out because my husband was out of town at the time) The cat scan taken in ER revealed a large tumor in my brain. I was airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, where I had surgery the next day to remove the tumor. It was malignant and I underwent chemo & radiation. Five years later I am alive & healthy and counting my many blessings. You can read my story on Caring Bridge at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/vickijohnson
    Bless you greatly, Vicki Johnson

  13. You are a true inspiration. Yes, I agree with you that we all have scars...its what we do after we are scarred that truly matters. And I too have been scarred. Your story reminds me of the importance of what is really around you. Great Family, friends and the impression you leave on them. You are a pure example of a fighter, not only in fighting for your life, but a fighter in the sense that you will not let this scar define you. And you can tell that you are such a beautiful, happy wife, mom and friend that is truly grateful for all that you have. Amazing story!!

  14. I know this is quite old but I just wanted to say that your are an inspiration and I'm very pleased you made a recovery. I was attacked least year and suffered a massive extradural hematoma. I am permanently missing a piece of skull and have found it hard to move forward. With so little information around I thank you for your blog. You have given me strength and hope for the future. God bless your family.H2
