She just keeps amazing us all

Jamie and her sister

Jamie is doing AWESOME!!  She is very responsive!  She is starting to have some flashbacks about the fall and it scares her so Nick says she still needs lots of prayers.  She ate breakfast this morning and when they brought it in Nick told her to open her eyes and she said she would when she got done praying.

I stopped by to see her this morning and she looked great.  I didn't see her yesterday, but the improvement in swelling from Saturday night to Monday morning is huge.  She has been up to walk around a tiny bit and has sat on the edge of her bed again.  While I was there, the Physical Therapist came in and the plan is to move her to rehab this afternoon.  When Jamie heard that she got a big smile on her face.   So it looks like she went from ICU, to room 4209 (for only 1 day) to rehab.  This is absolutely fantastic news for her.  She opened her eyes and saw me today and said "Hi Lauralyn, thanks for coming to visit me."  Even though she has spoken to me, I wasn't sure if she really knew who I was.  I told her that McCall & I had been there Saturday night but that she probably didn't remember -- she said "Oh I do remember!  McCall is such a sweetheart and it was so nice of you guys to visit."  Jamie is so AMAZING!  Prayers have been answered.

Her family is so grateful and excited for her recovery, but there is still quite a long road ahead for Jamie.  She is anemic right now and is so exhausted so the therapy will help condition her back to full strength.  If everything goes as planned, she will start with 3 hours of rehab tomorrow.  This is going to completely wear her out so please still be sensitive to that while wanting to visit.  Jamie is so touched by all of the people who have visited her blog and who have reached out to her in support.  Nick is limiting visitors right now to close friends & family!  I know, I know - - you are all saying "Jamie is my close friend!"  That is just how she made everyone feel which is such a beautiful credit to her and the compassion she has for so many people.  I would suggest giving her a couple of more days to get into rehab and get adjusted.  Remember, she is going to need your beautiful faces and loving support for months to come.

Prayer is the best thing you can do for Jamie, Nick and their wonderful family.

  2. Thank you so much for the updates - it has been difficult to not go see her but I knew that the hospital would end up with a code violation if all of us who love her showed up on the same day! I am sending all the love and light I possibly can to her and her family and continue to do so on a daily basis. I'm amazed, but not surprised, at her progress! Blessings to all!
